Just like other electronic devices, hearing aids can be supported by accessories that improve performance, comfort, and convenience. At Parker Hearing Institute, our goal is never to sell you items you don’t need; we want to help you find the tools that make hearing care easier and help your hearing aids fit seamlessly into everyday life.
Below are some of the most common hearing aid accessories and how they can help.

Most hearing aids use one of four standard disposable battery sizes:
10--312--13--675
Many newer hearing aids also offer rechargeable options, which eliminate the need for disposable batteries.
We sell hearing aid batteries in our office, and we’re happy to help you identify the correct size for your device.
How long do batteries last?
Disposable batteries typically last anywhere from 4–14 days, depending on the battery size, device power level, and daily use. If you notice your batteries aren’t lasting as long as expected, bring your hearing aids in for a cleaning or check-up. Sometimes the issue is as simple as wax buildup or moisture.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether a hearing aid has stopped working or if the battery is simply dead. A battery tester can help you quickly confirm whether your batteries still have power.
We don’t usually recommend battery testers for everyone, but they can be helpful if you:
Frequently have trouble telling dead batteries from fresh ones
Want quick confirmation before assuming the device needs repair
Prefer having a simple troubleshooting tool at home
Moisture is one of the most common causes of hearing aid problems. Sweat, humidity, and everyday moisture exposure can affect internal electronics and reduce performance over time.
A hearing aid dehumidifier helps remove moisture from your devices, which can:
Extend the life of your hearing aids
Reduce intermittent sound issues
Help prevent corrosion or internal damage
Restore performance after heavy sweating or humid exposure
Dehumidifiers are especially useful for people who live in humid climates or sweat frequently.
Hearing aids sit close to the ear canal, which means they can collect earwax, debris, and oils over time.
Cleaning tools are designed to help:
Keep microphones clear
Prevent wax blockage
Maintain sound quality
Reduce the likelihood of repairs
If you’re not comfortable cleaning your hearing aids yourself, our team can clean them for you when you bring them into the office.
There are many accessories available; some essential, some optional. What’s “right” depends on your hearing aids, lifestyle, and comfort level.
